Monday 17th August Home Evening

Brother Don Mack Pearson will present a talk on Elder Jeffrey R. Holland for the Vancouver Washington West Stake Home Evening group on Monday August 17^th at 7:00 pm at the Hazel Dell Bldg. (2223 NW 99^th Street)

About Brother Pearson:

Although he was born in Oklahoma, he lived in Hurricane, Utah (Southern Utah close to St. George to the West and Zion Park to the East) from age 2 until 14.  It was here that he first met Jeffrey Holland who lived in St. George and was a few months older than him

He was the second of six children.  As a boy, his family owned two cows and he milked them morning and night.  His father thought they should learn to work, and he picked strawberries, cherries and peaches for local farmers.  He also owned pigs and chickens.

His family moved to Davis County, and he graduated from Davis High School in 1959.  He went to BYU in 1959, then to Toronto, Canada in 1960 where Thomas Monson was his mission president.  He was one of the first missionaries to be called when the age was changed from 20 to 19.  Afterwards he returned to BYU where Jeffrey Holland was a classmate.  They had two classes together:  Greek Tragedies and Early American Literature. He met Ann Welch in 1963 at BYU in a New Testament Class and they were married at Christmastime in 1964.  They both graduated in 1965 and left for law school.

After law school, he practiced law for 40 years in Los Angeles with the law firm of Argue Pearson Harbison & Myers. His practice included mergers, securities, tax and real estate.  

He and Ann have 6 children, 20 grandchildren and one great grand-daughter. .

While he lived in Glendale, California, he served as a bishop and then as a member of the Stake Presidency.  He was a counselor to Tad Callister, currently serving as General President of the SundaySchool, and when he was released as Stake President, He was called to be the Stake President.

He and Ann served a couples mission in 2007-2008 in Toronto Canada when Tad Callister was serving as the mission president.
